Marcelo Returns to Brazilian Club

Former Real Madrid Star Signs with Fluminense

Former Real Madrid left-back Marcelo has signed a two-year deal with Brazilian club Fluminense, announced the club on Monday. Marcelo, 36, returns to Brazil after a successful career in Europe, where he played for Real Madrid for 15 seasons, winning five Champions League titles, six La Liga titles, and two Copa del Rey titles.

A Return to Familiar Territory

This is Marcelo's second stint with Fluminense, where he started his professional career in 2005. He spent three seasons with the club before moving to Real Madrid in 2007. Marcelo's return is a significant boost for Fluminense, who are currently sixth in the Brazilian Serie A.

Still a Key Player

Despite his age, Marcelo remains a key player on the field. He played 90 minutes in five of Fluminense's last six games. His experience and leadership will be valuable assets for the club as they aim to challenge for trophies this season.

Excitement for the Future

The club's president Mário Bittencourt expressed his excitement about Marcelo's return: "Marcelo's return is a historic moment for Fluminense. He is a legend of the club and one of the greatest players in the world. We are confident that he will help us achieve our goals this season." Marcelo said he was "very happy" to be back at Fluminense and looked forward to helping the club succeed.
